Special Assignments are where you can support CAAFA when we need more hands to get things done.

There are roles that fall under special and unique talents that the membership of CAAFA can utilize.

If you feel that you have some time to support us with one or more of the following, let us know.

  • photographer - take pictures at various CAAFA events.

  • website developer - assist with posting information on the website and our social media sites.

  • event planner - assist in planning social events for CAAFA members and our community.

  • legal representative - having a good understanding of the rules that govern our career.

  • job expert (fire, ems) - be a trainer for those that need deeper insight on job performance.

  • clergyman - keeping CAAFA member informed of the sick & shut-ins and a spiritual advisor.

  • fundraising - assist with ideas and programs to raise monies to support CAAFA’s agenda.

  • community outreach - assist at meeting the needs of our community through informational, education and donations.

  • counselors/advisors - helping other CAAFA members with career advice.

  • mentors - being a motivational resource for other CAAFA members and potential recruits.

  • financial advisor - advising CAAFA members on securing their wealth from the money earned on this job.

  • newsletter/publisher - assist with CAAFA’s news publication the PULSE, which keeps members informed of the “happenings” that are occurring around them in the world of Columbus Fire.

  • union representative - this role is to attend the Local 67 meetings and keep CAAFA’s voice and concerns heard among the union body.

  • recruitment - to assist in going out and finding African American applicants and assist with hiring process.

  • historian - this role is to help document monumental events effecting CAAFA and additionally, to carry the “torch” and tell the story of the Columbus African American firefighter so it will never be forgotten.
